Zachary Galifianakis

Zachary Knight Galifianakis Greek pronunciation (born October 1st 1969): American comedian, musician, comedian and writer. He has also appeared on Comedy Central Presents and hosted Late World With Zach on VH1. Galifianakis has been a star in a variety of films that include The Hangover Trilogy (2009-2013), Due Date (2010). The Campaign (2012), Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance (2014), and Masterminds (2016). He also voiced characters in animated films like Puss in Boots (2011), The Lego Batman Movie (2017), Missing Link (2019), and Ron's Gone WRONG (2021). Galifianakis is the host of the Funny or Die website chat show Between Two Ferns. He was also a part of FX's series Baskets. In 2017 the show was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Zachary Knight Galifianakis, a North Carolina native, was born October 1 1969 in Wilkesboro. He is the child of Mary Frances (nee Cashion) and Harry Galifianakis, a heating oil seller. His mother is English and Scottish-Irish, while his paternal grandparents are from Crete. His father was a Greek Orthodox Christian and he was baptized. He is the father of Merritt an older sister, and Greg, an older brother. His cousin Nick Galifianakis is a Washington Post cartoonist and his uncle Nick Galifianakis is also a politician. Galifianakis was educated at Wilkes Central High School and then attended North Carolina State University where she studied communications. Galifianakis worked for a public radio station in college. He taught the waltz in 1991, when he got to know Mary J. Blige. Following his debut on television Boston Common, Galifianakis joined Saturday Night Live for two weeks.
