Britney Jean Spears

Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2, 1981 in McComb, Mississippi & raised in Kentwood, Louisiana. Britney was an avid dancer in her youth and also won numerous competitions in gymnastics. But, perhaps most importantly, Britney loved to sing. Britney was 8 years old when the time came for her to join The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) however, her young age led to her being turned down. This directed her to an off Broadway show, "Ruthless", for a 2-year run as the title character. At 11 years old, she tried again to be a part of The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989). It was a different time, she played a mouseketeer along with many other popular stars from today, Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez (*NSYNC) and Ryan Gosling. However, her most notable break was in the latter part of the 1990s when she was signed to be a Jive Recording artist. The debut album of Britney Spears, "...Baby, was released in 1999. Britney also sold 9 million copies (as at July 1, 2001) of her follow-up album "Oops !...I Do It Again" which was released May 2000. Britney was born to Lynne Spears (and Jamie Spears) and has a big sister named Jamie Lynn Spears. Britney was always destined to be an upcoming star at a young age. Britney loved singing and was inspired by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Britney auditioned for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989-1994) at the age of was eight. However she was too old to be considered a suitable candidate. Britney moved to New York with her mother and her baby sister. She appeared in numerous TV advertisements and also served as an understudy for Natalie Portman in "Ruthless" off-Broadway. The passion for dance and music took over and, two years later, she auditioned for a part on "Mickey Mouse" again, and this time, won the role with Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
