Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978, in London, Ontario, Canada She was the daughter of Sandra Kay (Gale),
a nurse and Lance Frederick McAdams who is an auto driver and furniture moving
company. Rachel is English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel started acting at the
age of thirteen. Already, she was performing in Shakespearean productions at
summer theater camp. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a
BFA in Theater. After her debut on television in Disney's The Famous Jett
Jackson in 1998, she starred on Canadian TV's Slings and Arrows 2003. The
comedy-drama follows the struggle of Shakespearean theater groups. She was
awarded an Gemini Award for her performance in 2003. Her breakthrough role in
Mean Girls (2004) as Regina George instantly landed her in the top tier of
Hollywood's list of young actors. The film was followed by a star turn opposite
Ryan Gosling in the adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller The Notebook
(2004) The Notebook was a surprising box office success that became the most
popular romantic drama for a brand new generation of moviegoers. Following
filming, McAdams and Gosling became romantically linked and began dating
through mid-2007. McAdams and Gosling soon were engaged and began to get married.
McAdams was seen in The Lucky Ones (2007) and State of Play (2008) as well as
State of Play (2008). She also appeared in the film The Time Traveler's
Wife(2009) and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's worldwide hit Sherlock Holmes
(2009). McAdams was the smart producer of Morning Glory (2010). She also played
the materialistic fiancee Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris
(2011). McAdams returned to romantic drama territory with The Vow (2012), in
which she was a co-star with Channing Tatum. McAdams plays the lead role in
Terrence Malick’s To the Wonder (2012) with Ben Affleck and Noomi Rapacace in
Brian De Palma's action thriller Passion (2012).
